The Vignette Effect

Transactional Marketing vs. Brand Experience: What Makes People Want to Buy

Episode Summary

Transactional marketing gives people the information they need to make a purchase. Brand experience creates the emotional response that makes them want it. In this episode, Raquel explains how features, prices, promotions, and deadlines support a buying decision, why they can’t create desire on their own, and how a stronger brand experience helps products and services become the choice people already want to make.

Episode Notes

Your marketing can give people every detail they need and still leave them without much of a reason to want what you’re selling.

Transactional marketing focuses on the information and mechanics of buying: what the product or service is, what it includes, what it costs, when it’s available, and whether there’s a discount or deadline. Those details matter. They help people evaluate and confirm a purchase.

You’ll also hear one particularly useful question to ask about your marketing:

The transactional information gives people the logic they need to make the purchase. The brand experience creates the emotional response that makes them want it. You need both, but they have different jobs.
